Summary

On Friday night at First Energy Stadium in Reading the Senators couldn’t hold two large leads and fell to the Fightin Phils 10-9 in a walk off loss. Harrisburg led 6-0 into the sixth inning, 9-4 into the bottom of the eighth and 9-7 into the last of the night before losing on a three-run home run. The loss snapped the Sens five game winning streak.

The Big Play

Leading 9-7 into the bottom of the ninth inning, Reading had two on and two outs when Max McDowell came to the plate. He moved ahead of the count 1-0 and hit the next pitch on a line just over the wall in left field for the game winning three-run home run.

On Capitol Hill

• Jackson Rutledge started and went the first 5.2 innings allowing four runs on eight hits.
• Malvin Pena followed and went 1.1 scoreless innings.
• Evan Lee went two-thirds of an inning and allowed three runs on two hits and two walks.
• Odalvi Javier pitched out of the eighth inning allowing a hit but recording the final out.
• Reid Schaller took the loss allowing the walk off three-run home run following two strikeouts, a walk and a single.

It was the sixth straight game the Senators have scored at least seven runs… When play started Tuesday, May 9 the Senators team batting average was .211 and it’s now .234 after the game tonight… The four hit game for Jackson Cluff was the first in his career.
