LAKEWOOD, N.J. (June 1, 2023) — CF Omar De Los Santos registered a season-high three hits — adding a two-run home run and a stolen bag — as the Brooklyn Cyclones dominated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, 6-1, on Thursday night from ShoreTown Ballpark.

1B Chase Estep ignited Brooklyn’s (21-25) offense in the top of the second. With one out in the inning, the 23-year-old deposited the third pitch he saw onto the berm in right for a solo home run. His second blast of the season put the Cyclones in front, 1-0.

Jersey Shore (24-22) drew even in the bottom of the third. 2B Wilfredo Flores began the frame with a double and CF Jared Carr followed with a walk. Following consecutive strikeouts, C Rafael Marchán poked a ground-rule double to left, knotting the game at one.

The game did not stay even long, as Brooklyn jumped in ahead for good in the following half-inning. RF Jaylen Palmer coaxed a one-out walk and stole second before scoring on Estep’s scorching single to left, providing the ‘Clones a 2-1 advantage.

An inning later, they tacked on. 2B César Berbesi unfurled a double to left and scampered home on De Los Santos’ base-hit to center.

In the seventh, Brooklyn put the game out of reach. 3B Mateo Gil reached safely on a throwing error and took second on a ground out. Berbesi promptly whacked another two-base hit to left to drive him in and push the Cyclones' lead to three.

After a pitching change, De Los Santos eviscerated the first pitch thrown beyond the left-field wall for a two-run home run. The 23-year-old’s third of the season provided Brooklyn a 6-1 cushion.

RHP Jeffrey Colón (1-2) was stellar once again for the Cyclones on Thursday. The Las Matas de Farfán, D.R. native yielded one run on five hits over 5.2 innings for his first win of 2023.

LHP Matt Osterberg (1-3) permitted three runs on six hits over 4.2 frames for Jersey Shore, suffering his third defeat.

Brooklyn will go for consecutive victories on Friday night. RHP Christian Scott (1-0, 3.07) projects to get the ball for the ‘Clones against the Shore’s RHP Gunner Mayer (0-3, 5.32). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
