BIG MOMENTS

  • The Renegades broke the scoreless tie in the top of the eighth, scoring on Josh Smith’s RBI double. Josh Breaux added a double, and Eric Wagaman delivered a sacrifice fly. The Yankees affiliate added two in the ninth to take a 5-0 lead.
  • New York Mets infielder Jeff McNeil played a scheduled five innings at second base, going 0-2 at the plate with a fly out and a ground out in his first game with the Brooklyn Cyclones, rehabbing a hamstring injury.
  • Brooklyn’s Jose Butto struck out a season-high seven batters over five scoreless innings, allowing two walks and three hits. The No. 15 prospect in the Mets system, according to MLB Pipeline, faced four over the minimum in the no-decision.

Hudson Valley’s Hayden Wesneski, the Yankees No. 30 prospect, tossed seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in the no-decision. He dialed up three key double plays against Brooklyn’s offensive attack.
