Harrisburg Senators Postgame Notes

Reading Fightin Phils 2, Harrisburg Senators 1

Summary

The Reading Fightin Phils rallied for a run in the ninth and another in the 11th to beat the Harrisburg Senators 2-1 on Friday night at FNB Field. Harrisburg scored a run in the sixth inning to take a 1-0 lead. For most of the night, that looked like all Senators starting pitcher Mitchell Parker would need. Parker pitched into the ninth inning and allowed a lead off home run to tie the game. Neither team scored in the tenth. Reading scored their placed runner in the 11th and the Senators stranded their free runner at second base.

The Big Play

The Senators scored a run to take the lead in the sixth inning and eventually loaded the bases. With two outs, Donovan Casey smoked a line drive back up the middle that was right at Nick Ward, the Reading 2B, who made the catch to end the threat.

On Capitol Hill

Mitchell Parker pitched into the ninth inning before leaving after allowing the game tying home run. He faced 26 batters, just two over the minimum, in eight plus innings of work. He struck out nine in total and seven of nine between the fifth and seventh innings. He was the first Senators starter to pitch into the ninth inning this season… Malvin Pena followed Parker and pitched two scoreless innings… Lucas Knowles was the tough luck loser, allowing a broken bat single with two outs in the 11th inning that plated the eventual winning run.

With the Gavel

Trey Lipscomb went 2-for-4…. Terone Harris III drove in the only run with an RBI single in sixth… Dylan Crews doubled leading off the bottom of the first inning.

Filibusters

The Senators had seven hits in the first six innings and then no hits the rest of the game… The Senators went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position… time of the game was 2:57… The attendance was 5,629.
