MADISON, AL (September 3, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Rocket City Trash Pandas, 6-2, on Thursday night at Toyota Field to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Montgomery struck first in the second inning when Connor Hujsak doubled off the wall in left, scoring Theo Gillen to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead.

The Biscuits added to their lead in the third when Will Simpson doubled to left, bringing home Bryan Broecker.

Rocket City got on the board in the sixth when Cole Fontenelle hit a solo home run to left-center, cutting the Montgomery lead to 2-1.

The Biscuits broke the game open in the ninth, scoring four runs. Jadher Areinamo delivered an RBI single to score Brock Jones. Simpson followed with a two-run single, scoring Broecker and Mac Horvath. Gillen then singled home Areinamo to extend the lead to 6-1.

Rocket City answered with a solo homer from Arjun Nimmala in the bottom of the ninth, but Montgomery held on for the 6-2 victory.

Simpson finished 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two strikeouts, raising his season RBI total to 89. Gillen went 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and run scored, collecting four total bases. Areinamo went 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored. Hujsak finished 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and two strikeouts. Barrios added a hit and stole his 39th base of the season while Jones scored a run and stole his fourth base.

Santiago Suarez earned the win, improving to 9-4 on the season after allowing one run on three hits over 6.0 innings while striking out three. T.J. Fondtain tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out one. Tommy McCollum worked a one-run ninth, striking out two.
