Trash Pandas Late Rally Ends Biscuits Decade Long Playoff Streak

MADISON, AL (September 6, 2026) — The Montgomery Biscuits built an early three-run lead but surrendered five unanswered runs over the final two innings in a 6-4 loss to the Rocket City Trash Pandas on Sunday at Toyota Field.

Montgomery struck first in the top of the first inning when Connor Hujsak delivered a two-run double to score J.T. Arruda and Theo Gillen. Gregory Barrios followed with an RBI single to score Hujsak, giving the Biscuits a 3-0 lead.

Rocket City answered in the bottom of the inning when Arjun Nimmala hit an inside-the-park home run to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Biscuits added to their lead in the fifth when Arruda lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Ryan Spikes and making it 4-1.

Rocket City rallied in the seventh when Cole Fontenelle delivered a two-run single to score Jake Munroe and Tucker Flint, cutting the Montgomery lead to 4-3.

The Trash Pandas completed the comeback in the eighth. Caleb Bartolero tied the game with an RBI single that scored Nimmala before Eddie Micheletti Jr. doubled home Flint to give Rocket City its first lead of the game at 5-4. Rocket City added another run in the eighth to take a 6-4 advantage and held on for the win.

Hujsak finished 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Barrios went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Gillen went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Spikes also recorded two hits, and Arruda drove in a run.

Mac Horvath went 0-for-4 and recorded a sacrifice, while Cooper Kinney went 1-for-3.

Garrett Edwards started for Montgomery and worked 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out four without a walk. Andrew Lindsey followed with one inning, allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out one. Junior William took the loss after allowing two hits, two runs and two walks in 1.0 inning.
