2020 BLW TV Schedule Announced (A's/Indians & Cubs/Reds)
LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas Aviators® professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics and 2019 Pacific Southern Division Champions, announced today that NBC Sports California and SportsTime Ohio will televise the games at Las Vegas Ballpark® featuring the Cleveland Indians vs. Oakland
LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas Aviators® professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics and 2019 Pacific Southern Division Champions, announced today that NBC Sports California and SportsTime Ohio will televise the games at Las Vegas Ballpark® featuring the Cleveland Indians vs. Oakland Athletics. NBC Sports California will televise on Saturday, February 29 and SportsTime Ohio will televise both games on Saturday-Sunday, February 29 - March 1 at 1:05 p.m.
Marquee Sports Network will then televise the two-game series against the Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs on Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8 at 1:05 p.m.
Len Kasper (play-by-play) and Jim Deshaies (analyst) will call the action for both games from the Silver State. This season marks the debut for Marquee Sports Network, the new television home of Cubs baseball! Deshaies played for 12 seasons in the Major Leagues with New York Yankees (1984), Houston (1985-91), San Diego (1992), Minnesota (1993, 1994), San Francisco (1993) and Philadelphia (1995). He was also a member of the Triple-A Las Vegas Stars in 1992.
"We are excited that the A's, Indians and Cubs will televise the first Big League Weekend games from Las Vegas Ballpark," Aviators President/COO Don Logan said. "The television broadcast will provide tremendous exposure for Las Vegas and showcase one of the best ballparks in all of professional baseball.
"These two weekends of spring training games will also provide a great atmosphere in the ballpark for all of the fans, both locally and the tourists that will visit during this event."
Glen Kuiper (play-by-play) and Ray Fosse (analyst) will call the action for the A's on NBC Sports California. Kuiper begins his 17th season in the A's television booth as the club's lead play-by-play voice. Kuiper has won 13 Northern California Emmy Awards for his coverage of Bay Area sports teams.
Fosse, former two-time Major League All-Star catcher and Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, celebrates his 35th consecutive season on radio and his 32nd season in the television booth as the A's game analyst.
He was a first round pick (seventh overall) by Cleveland in the 1965 draft. He is a 12-year major league veteran and played in a career 923 games with Cleveland (1967-72, 1976-77), Oakland (1973-75), Seattle (1977) and Milwaukee (1979). He is a two-time Rawlings Gold Glove recipient (1970-71) and was a member of two A's World Championship teams in 1973 & 74.
In addition, A's Cast on TuneIn, the exclusive home of all Oakland A's audio content, will broadcast both games vs. Cleveland in Las Vegas with Ken Korach (play-by-play) and Vince Cotroneo (play-by-play). Fans can access the A's TuneIn station at athletics.com/ascast.
Korach will return for his 25th season with the A's and his 15th as the team's lead radio announcer. In the long history of the A's in Oakland, he matches 2017 Ford C. Frick Award recipient Bill King for the most time spent doing play-by-play on radio for the A's.
He was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in September of 2019 and honored as the 2013 California Sportscaster of the Year and the 2001 Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association. He was inducted in 2017 into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Northern California and in 2003 into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
He also was a broadcaster for the Las Vegas Stars of the Pacific Coast League from 1989-95 and the play-by-play voice of UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball and football.
Matt Underwood (play-by-play) and Rick Manning (analyst) and Andre Knott (reporter) will call the action for SportsTime Ohio. Manning was a first round pick (second overall) by Cleveland in the 1972 June draft. He spent his first 8 ½ years of his 13-year Major League career with the Indians (1975-83), where he won the Gold Glove in 1976. He also caught for the final out in Len Barker's 1981 perfect game. He played in a career 1,555 games with Cleveland and Milwaukee (1983-87).
The Aviators, under 2019 PCL Manager of the Year Fran Riordan, will open their 38th campaign in the Silver State in both the season and home opener on Thursday, April 9 against the Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, at 7:05 p.m. at Las Vegas Ballpark.
The Aviators led all 2019 minor league baseball in attendance with a total of 650,934 for an average of 9,299 in 70 dates which included 47 sellouts.
Las Vegas Ballpark was named winner of the 2019 MiLB Triple-A Best of the Ballparks Fan Vote; winner of BaseballParks.com 20th Annual Ballpark of the Year Award; honored as Ballpark of the Year and Aviators Team of the Year by Ballpark Digest.
