BILOXI, MS – The Biloxi Shuckers (6-4) pitching staff continued their dominant start to the 2024 season, limiting the Chattanooga Lookouts (3-6) to one run in a 3-1 win on Tuesday night at Shuckers Ballpark. With the win, the Shuckers staff lowered their ERA to a Southern League-best 1.87 and extended their win streak to four.

Outside of an Anthony Alford home run in the second, Shuckers starter Nate Peterson dominated in his second Double-A start. Over six innings, he scattered five hits and two walks. The six innings tied his career-high, set on August 22, 2023 against the Quad Cities River Bandits.

Down 1-0, the Shuckers tied the game in the third off an RBI single from Carlos Rodriguez, scoring Eduardo Garcia, who doubled earlier in the inning. In the fourth, Darrien Miller hit a double to the right-field wall, scoring Freddy Zamora from first and giving Biloxi a 2-1 lead. After a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases in the fifth, Rodriguez reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Garcia again and giving Biloxi a 3-1 lead.

Out of the bullpen Kaleb Bowman, Nick Merkel and Justin Yeager combined for three scoreless innings, stretching the bullpen’s scoreless streak to 16 consecutive innings. Yeager picked up his third save of the year with a perfect ninth inning. Peterson (1-0) earned his first Double-A win while Hunter Parks (0-1) took the loss for Chattanooga.
