Bowie got out of the gates quickly, scoring a run in the top of the first inning on back-to-back doubles from Ryan McKenna and Yusniel Díaz. The RubberDucks tied the game in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly from Andruw Monasterio. u1:p

The game remained tied at one until the top of the fourth inning. In that frame, Rylan Bannon and Jesmuel Valentín each singled to begin the inning. The next batter was Martin Cervenka, who blasted a home run over the fence in left field to put the Baysox on top 4-1. u1:p

The Baysox extended the lead back to two in the top of the sixth, when Mason McCoy drove in Bannon with a fielder's choice. That 5-3 lead would not last long, as Trenton Brooks hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth, giving the RubberDucks their first lead of the night at 6-5. u1:p

Bowie immediately grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh inning. After Diaz and Carlos Pèrez singled to start the inning, Bannon blasted a two-run triple into the gap in right-center field, giving the Baysox the 7-6 lead.u1:p

Before the bottom of the eighth inning, as Pedro Araujo was warming up on the mound, fireworks began going off from a festival on the streets of Akron. The fireworks caused a 15-minute delay before the Baysox could retake the field. After the delay, Bowie gave up four unearned runs, in part due to two errors, and fell behind 10-7.u1:p
