*BIRMINGHAM, AL *– The Biloxi Shuckers (68-58, 34-23) used an eight-run seventh inning and six shutout innings from starter TJ Shook to extend their win streak to a season-high eight with a 9-2 win over the Birmingham Barons (46-81, 21-36) at Regions Field on Tuesday night. The win also extended Biloxi’s win streak to seven in a row against the Barons.

The Shuckers' offense sparked in the second by loading the bases thanks to a single from Freddy Zamora and back-to-back walks. With the bases loaded, Zavier Warren drove in Biloxi’s first run with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Zamora from third.

From there, Shuckers’ starter TJ Shook and Barons’ starter Matt Thompson settled in. Shook used a double-play to get out of the first and second innings before retiring six in a row, facing the minimum through four. Thompson, meanwhile, retired nine straight between the third and sixth innings, including five strikeouts to record his final five outs of the night. Shook dominated the Barons, facing the minimum through six shutout innings on just 58 pitches.

In the seventh, back-to-back doubles from Carlos Rodriguez and Zavier Warren doubled Biloxi’s lead to 2-0. Two batters later, Lamar Sparks brought home two with a triple to right-center, and a throwing error on the play allowed him to come home, extending Biloxi’s lead to 5-0. Later in the inning, Adisyn Coffey entered for the Barons with the bases loaded, and Jeferson Quero immediately made it 6-0 with a fielder’s choice up the middle. An RBI walk from Rodriguez and a two-RBI single from Warren extended the lead to 8-0. Biloxi sent 13 men to the plate in the inning and 11 of the 13 reached base.

In the bottom of the inning, White Sox top prospect Colson Montgomery ended the shutout with a solo home run to right. Bryan Ramos did the same in the ninth, this time to left, cutting the Shuckers’ lead to 9-2.

Shook (6-4) earned the win for Biloxi while Thompson (5-14) took the loss for the Barons despite allowing one run in six innings. With the win, the Shuckers won their eighth straight road game, the longest road win streak in franchise history.
