Reno, Nev. – After a successful homestand against the Las Vegas Aviators, the Reno Aces (30-20, 65-60) will now hit the road to Albuquerque to take on the Isotopes (23-28, 49-77, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. The six-game series will begin on Tuesday, August 27, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PT.
Reno and Albuquerque are scheduled to match up 12 times this season. The Aces will host the Isotopes for a six-game set in late September following the upcoming series.
Notable players in Albuquerque’s lineup include outfielders Zac Veen and Yanquiel Fernandez.
Veen, the #4 overall prospect in Colorado’s system, recently made his Triple-A debut after spending the previous four seasons in the lower minor league levels. The 22-year-old was selected ninth overall by the Rockies in the 2020 MLB draft and has yet to tap into his first-round potential as he has struggled to stay healthy in his young career. Veen went 0-for-3 in his Triple-A debut but later roped a three-run blast in Sunday’s matchup against Sugar Land as his first hit as a member of the Isotopes. Before his promotion to Albuquerque, the Florida native hit .268/.359/.457 with five home runs, 14 RBI, and 16 BB in 36 games with Double-A Harford. The exciting prospect is worth keeping an eye on in the upcoming series.
Fernandez, who currently ranks as the #5 prospect in the Rockies organization, has played 17 games with Albuquerque after playing in the first 89 matchups of the season in Double-A. Signed out of Havana, Cuba, in 2019, the 21-year-old has hit .246/.288/.333 with six doubles and nine RBI in 69 at-bats with the Isotopes. He earned his advancement to Triple-A after slashing .310/.370/.464 with three home runs and eight RBI in July with Double-A Hartford. Fernandez has proven his immense upside as he smashed at least 20 home runs in the previous two seasons, notably hitting 25 doubles and 25 home runs with 95 RBI as he powered through three levels of Colorado’s system in 2023.
Bryson Brigman has enjoyed an incredible month of August and is coming off arguably his best series of the campaign against the Las Vegas Aviators, where he went 9-for-22 with two doubles, nine RBI, and a grand slam in Sunday’s series finale. The infielder leads the Pacific Coast League in batting average (.469), on-base-percentage (.521), and OPS (1.224) and ranks second in RBI (22) in August as he’ll look to keep things rolling in a crucial series against the Isotopes this upcoming week.
Reno will now hit the road and travel to Albuquerque to take on the Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, with the series opener set for Tuesday, August 27th, with first pitch scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PT.
The Aces return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, September 3rd, to host the El Paso Chihuahuas, the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
