Adam Plutko Named IL Pitcher of the Week

The International League announced today that Charlotte outfielder Jacob May and Columbus righthanded starter Adam Plutko have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from May 28-June 3. The Clippers have now claimed three consecutive Pitcher of the Week awards, as Plutko follows back-to-back recipient Shane Bieber. May is the first member of the Knights to capture an IL weekly award this season.

Nine days after teammate Shane Bieber tossed a 7-inning rain-shortened no-hitter for the Clippers, Adam Plutko put his name in the record books by spinning a 9-inning no-hitter in a 6-0 victory at Syracuse on Saturday. Plutko set down the first 25 batters he faced before losing Bengie González to a one-out walk in the ninth inning. Though he missed a chance for perfection, Pluko disposed of the final two batters to complete the no-hitter.
It was Plutko's first start since returning from his second stint in the big leagues with Cleveland this season. During his time in the IL, Plutko has the League's lowest WHIP (0.70) and opponent batting average (.146) as well as the second-lowest ERA (1.87).
26-year-old Adam Plutko is in his fifth season pitching for the Cleveland organization after being chosen in the 11th round of the 2013 draft. The former UCLA Bruin was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 College World Series. Plutko is a native of Upland, California.
