The Salt Lake Bees jumped out to an early lead but could not hang on falling 10-5 to the Round Rock Express on Sunday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark.

Preston Palmeiro got the scoring started for Salt Lake with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third. Three batters later Jo Adell joined Palmeiro with a two-run homer of his own to make it 4-0 Bees. The home run was Adell’s 11th of the season, moving him back into the Minor League lead for home runs this season.

Round Rock chipped away at the lead, scoring one in the fourth and two in the fifth before taking the lead with a three-run seventh. The Bees would draw back within a run at 6-5 with a Luis Rengifo RBI triple, but Round Rock would add four more in the ninth inning to put the game away.

The Bees and Express have two games remaining in the series, meeting at 1:05 p.m. on Monday for a Memorial Day matinee followed by the series finale on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m.
