Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino held a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh at Lancaster on Tuesday but the JetHawks stormed back for two runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth to down the Sixers 7-4. The loss was Inland Empire's first defeat in five games at the Hangar in 2018.
Inland Empire took a 1-0 lead in the first when 19-year-old Jo Adell smashed a solo to homer left, his third dinger in eight games with the club. Colton Welker tied the game for Lancaster (25-27) with a solo homer in the bottom of the first, his fifth. Nate Bertness went six strong innings for the Sixers (26-26) allowing just the one run with six Ks. The Sixers took a 3-1 lead in the fourth with a RBI single from Roberto Baldoquin scoring Jack Kruger who had doubled. Baldoquin later scored on a wild pitch. The Sixers made it 4-1 in the top of the seventh on Jordan Zimmerman's solo homer, his fourth of the year. The JetHawks however got an RBI single in the seventh from Max George and RBI double from Manny Melendez to trim the lead to 4-3. In the eighth after two quick outs IE reliever Eduardo Rivera (0-1) gave up two singles and then a two-run double to Joel Diaz to fall behind 5-4. Jacob Bosiokovic then launched a two-run homer, his first, to make it 7-4. Salvador Justo (2-1) was credited with the win with a scoreless eighth and Justin Lawrence notched his third save with a perfect ninth.
