HICKORY, N.C. (July 5, 2017) - Micker Adolfo blasted his 11th home run of the season, but the Intimidators fell to the Hickory Crawdads, 7-4, on Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Kannapolis (4-10 Second Half, 43-39) dropped its ninth straight game to match the team's longest skid since 2013.
HEAR THE HIGHLIGHT: Micker Adolfo's line drive home run
Hickory rallied for four runs, all with two outs, in the bottom of the fourth to pull away from Kannapolis. With two on and two out in a game tied 2-2, Blake Hickman gave up three straight run-scoring singles. Elio Castillo broke the tie with a base hit to left field, scoring Alex Kowalczyk. Eric Jenkins followed with a 2-run single, and Blaine Prescott capped the rally with a drive up the middle to score Jenkins for a 6-2 lead.
Hickman (1-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits over 5.0 innings, striking out three and walking none. Jake Elliott tossed the final 3.0 innings, giving up a run on two hits while striking out two and walking none.
Trailing 2-0, Kannapolis scored runs in the second and third innings to tie the game. Aaron Schnurbusch led off the second with a base hit and eventually scored on J.J. Franco's 2-out RBI-single. Adolfo blasted a no-doubt line-drive home run (11) to left field with two outs in the third inning to tie the game.
Antonio Rodriguez led off the top of the seventh with a home run (3) off Crawdads starter Edgar Arredondo (5-3), who left the game shortly thereafter and earned the win. Hickory's hurler finished with seven strikeouts and no walking while allowing three runs on six hits over 6 and 2/3 innings.
In the ninth, Kannapolis threatened for the second straight night. J.J. Franco led off with his third hit of the game and came around to score on an error by Hickory shortstop Anderson Tejeda, which allowed Mitch Roman to reach base. Following a Brandon Dulin base hit, Kannapolis brought the tying run to the plate with one out. Jake Lemoine struck out Adolfo before left-hander C.D. Pelham took the mound to fan Aaron Schnurbusch on a high strike three to end the game. Pelham notched the save (3).
