The Somerset Patriots walked off the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-4 at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ on Friday evening.
The win moved Somerset to 3.5 games back of first-place Reading in the Northeast Division with 26 games remaining at the time of the game’s conclusion.
Somerset earned its fourth win over New Hampshire this week to secure the series victory and ninth consecutive over the Fisher Cats dating back to June.
The Patriots advanced to 14-8 against the Fisher Cats this season, including a 7-3 record at TD Bank Ballpark. Dating back to 2025, Somerset is 36-10 against New Hampshire.
Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, Core Jackson and Roderick Arias reached via walks before Omar Alfonzo’s three-run home run secured Somerset’s fifth walk-off win of the season. The home run was Somerset’s second walk-off homer of the year and first since Coby Morales’ three-run walk-off homer against Portland on April 30.
After Josh Moylan’s two-run home run in the third inning, Alfonzo’s homer signaled Somerset’s 48th multi-HR contest. The Patriots are 33-15 in games where they hit two-plus home runs. With home runs in seven of their last eight games, the Patriots’ 161 homers this season lead Double-A and are tied for seventh in MiLB at the time of the game’s conclusion.
RHP Dom Hamel (4.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K) worked 4.0 innings, allowing two runs in his Somerset debut. Hamel retired five consecutive Fisher Cats to end his first game at Double-A this season.
Combining for 5.0 innings with two earned runs allowed in relief of Dom Hamel, Somerset’s bullpen has allowed two or fewer runs in eight of its last nine games, pitching to a 2.82 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in that span with 49 K to 13 BB in 38.1 IP.

RHP Kelly Austin (2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) set down all eight batters he faced in a season-high 2.2 IP. Austin posted his seventh consecutive scoreless outing. In that span, he’s recorded a 0.91 WHIP, .108 BAA with 11 K in 11.0 IP. Dating back to June 7 at Harrisburg, Austin has worked a 2.13 ERA, 2-0 record, 0.99 WHIP and .163 BAA with 27 K to 10 BB in 25.1 IP.

Alfonzo’s homer was his first since July 30 vs. Chesapeake with the Altoona Curve and 10th across all levels this season. Alfonzo’s 10 homers this season mark his third consecutive season powering double-digit homers.

Moylan’s homer was his eighth at Double-A and extended his career-high to 21 long balls across all levels this season. Across his last 21 games, Moylan is batting .316/.349/.566 with 5 HR, 19 RBI, 9 XBH and four multi-hit games.
