MOBILE, AL - The Biloxi Shuckers salvaged a split of their series at Mobile with a doubleheader sweep of the BayBears on Sunday. After taking game one 9-8 in eight innings, the Shuckers won a pitchers' duel 1-0 in the nightcap thanks to Blake Allemand 's two-out, seventh inning double. After being postponed by rain for three straight days, the clubs played four games in two days to close out the first half.
The Shuckers end the half and hit the All-Star break with a 36-33 record, good for second in the Southern League's South Division behind only the 40-30 Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Johnny Davis finished the twin bill 4-for-7 with a pair of doubles and was a homer shy of the cycle in game one. Clint Coulter was also 4-for-7 in two games on Sunday. Angel Ortega was 3-for-7 with a home run and two RBI's. Michael Choice , Jacob Nottingham , Javier Betancourt and Ortega all had long balls in game one.
GAME ONE RECAP
Bubba Derby was excellent again in his return to the Biloxi rotation, scattering four hits over 5.0 shutout innings. Over his last three starts, one of which came at Triple-A Colorado Springs, the righty has allowed just one run in 17.2 innings.
Grayson Long was just as good for the BayBears, working in and out of trouble to toss 6.0 scoreless innings. He stranded at least one runner on base in all six of his innings pitched, including four in scoring position.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Javi Salas (W, 1-1) walked three batters but benefitted from a caught stealing by Dustin Houle to put up a zero. In the top of the seventh, Wendell Rijo singled off Justin Anderson (L, 1-2) before Allemand doubled into the right field corner to put the Shuckers up 1-0.
Tayler Scott (S, 2) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save and send the Shuckers into the All-Star break winners of two straight.
The Shuckers will be represented by five All-Stars in the Southern League All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Pensacola. Mauricio Dubón , Dustin Demuth, Aaron Wilkerson and Matt Ramsey will be joined by reliever Nick Ramirez , who replaced Angel Ventura on the roster after the righty was promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The second half begins on Thursday, June 22 as the Shuckers take on the Mississippi Braves at MGM Park. The five-game homestand at MGM Park gets underway at 6:35 pm on Thursday night.
