Anderson Homer and 11 Staff Strikeouts Pave Way For Rain-Shortened Baysox Win over Senators

Harrisburg, PA (August 27, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, took down the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, 2-0, in a rain-shortened Thursday night affair.

The only runs of the game came courtesy of an Ethan Anderson two-run home run in the top off the fifth inning off Senators’ right-hander Luke Young (L, 3-1). Anderson’s eighteenth long ball of the season was his first with the Baysox since being activated off the injured list on Tuesday.

Chesapeake (29-24, 58-63) gathered 11 strikeouts as a staff in their sixth shutout win of the season on Thursday. Right-handed starter Anthony Eyanson went the opening three and two-thirds frames. Eyanson tossed 33 pitches in the first inning, loading the bases on two singles and a walk. The Orioles top pitching prospect still struck out the side in the frame, including a swinging strikeout with the bases loaded and a full count with two outs. Eyanson went on strike out four of the next six hitters. After a single and walk put two men on in the fourth, he would be lifted for right-hander Brock Moore. Eyanson delivered 85 pitches, 52 of which were strikes, on Thursday, he allowed three hits and three walks and struck out eight. Eyanson has struck out eight or more in all four of his Baysox starts since joining the Orioles organization. His 32 strikeouts since his Chesapeake debut on August 8 are the most of any pitcher in full-season Minor League Baseball.

Moore (W, 1-1) recorded the final out of the fourth, before striking out the side in a perfect fifth. Rain began to fall in the sixth inning. Right-hander Christian Herberholz (S, 1) allowed a base hit but still faced the minimum in his lone inning of work thanks to a ground ball double play.

The rain picked up at the beginning of the seventh inning. Colin Tuft saw three pitches to lead off the frame before the game went into a 39-minute delay, and was eventually called official, after storms in the area persisted.

Chesapeake continues the series in Harrisburg on Friday night. Right-hander JT Quinn (1-0, 3.00 ERA) is set to go for the Baysox. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm from FNB Field.

The Baysox return home for one final homestand in 2026 on Tuesday, September 1, when they kick off a six-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
