Bowie, MD (August 20, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, dropped a tight contest to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in a 2-0 final Thursday.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Chesapeake's (26-21, 55-60) Anderson De Los Santos knocked a leadoff single before Richmond righty Marques Johnson (S, 1) retired three consecutive Baysox batters to earn a five-out save and end the game.
Right-hander Anthony Eyanson pitched a career-high seven innings, giving up one run on five hits with no walks to eight strikeouts. Eyanson, the Orioles' No. 2 prospect and No. 49 overall prospect via MLB.com, faced the minimum across his first four innings.

Accounting for his first career quality start, Eyanson dropped his Double-A ERA to 1.93, the second-lowest for any Eastern League arm with at least 65 innings behind Baysox left-hander Joseph Dzierwa (1.89 ERA in 76.1 innings).
After an 86-minute rain delay, Eyanson and Richmond right-hander Yunior Marte started in an early pitcher's duel that was scoreless until the sixth. Marte (W, 2-4) also pitched to a quality start by striking out seven across six scoreless innings.
The Flying Squirrels plated their lone run against Eyanson (L, 6-1) in the sixth. Richmond had two runners in scoring position after back-to-back singles and a throwing error. Aron Estrada first preserved the shutout by throwing home on a fielder's choice for the second out, but a Gavin Kilen broken-bat RBI single to right ensued for a 1-0 Richmond lead. On the play, Kilen tried to extend the hit into a double but Sosa threw him out at second.
Left-hander Micah Ashman relieved Eyanson in the eighth inning when Richmond went up 2-0. Jean Carlos Sió worked a two-out walk and scored two batters later on a Dayson Croes RBI single.
The Baysox earned a late-game scoring opportunity in the eighth. Colin Tuft and Estrada knocked back-to-back singles, but a Chesapeake strikeout and flyout stranded the tying runs on base.
Righty Brock Moore faced one above the minimum and struck out two across a scoreless ninth inning. Moore has gone scoreless in his first four outings with the Baysox since joining from the Mariners organization at the deadline.
Chesapeake continues its six-game series against Richmond Friday. The Baysox are schedule to start righty Pat Reilly (0-2, 5.50 ERA) against Flying Squirrels righty Miguel Mendez (2-2, 4.93 ERA). First pitch Friday is set for 7:05 pm from Prince George’s Stadium.
