PORTLAND, ME - LHP Jayson Aquino did not allow an earned run over six plus innings and the Bowie Baysox (26-28) took the series opener from the Portland Sea Dogs (20-36) by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field in Portland.

Aquino (3-2) gave up one run (none earned) on two hits while walking two and fanning six in his six plus innings of work. LHP Luis Gonzalez (3.0 IP, 2 BB, 3 K) closed things out for the Baysox to notch his team-leading sixth save of the year.
Trailing 4-0, Portland had runners at first and second with nobody out in the seventh and Gonzalez came on in relief of Aquino to limit the damage to one run.
Aquino has allowed just one earned run in his last 13.0 IP.
In the top of the second, a single and a pair of walks loaded the bases with two outs before D'Arby Myers knocked in a pair with a two-run single to give the Baysox a 2-0 lead.
Portland had runners at second and third with one out in the third, but Aquino fanned Chad De La Guerra and Jantzen Witte to end the frame.
Anthony Santander's solo shot off of Sea Dogs starter Dedgar Jimenez came as part of a two-run sixth which stretched the Bowie lead to 4-0. The home run was Santander's second of the year. Martin Cervenka delivered an RBI single later in the frame.
Jimenez (1-4) gave up four runs on seven hits to go along with three walks and four strikeouts in 6.0 IP.
Bowie plated three in the ninth to make it a 7-1 game in favor of the visitors. A walk and a double put two men on before a wild pitch charged to RHP Kevin McAvoy allowed a run to score and Audry Pérez came through with an RBI single.
All three runs were charged to McAvoy (0.0 IP, H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB).
Ryan Mountcastle (2-4, 2 R) and Perez (2-5, RBI) both had multi-hit games for manager Gary Kendall's squad.
The series continues on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. as RHP Lucas Long (1-5, 4.61) gets the start for the Baysox against Sea Dogs LHP Kyle Hart (3-3, 3.02).
