Hillsboro, OR (October 25, 2023) – The Hillsboro Hops have been a proud Minor League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks since 2013. On Tuesday night in game seven of the National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Phillies 4-2 to advance to the 2023 World Series. 11 of the 26 players on the National League Championship Series roster have played for the Hillsboro Hops.

2021 Hillsboro Hop Brandon Pfaadt pitched four innings for Arizona and allowed just two earned runs in the Diamondbacks’ win. Pfaadt became just the 13th rookie since 1903 to start a game seven in the MLB Playoffs (Elias Sports Bureau). Seattle, Washington native and 2019 Diamondbacks’ first rounder (2019 & 2021 Hop) Corbin Carroll led the way offensively for Arizona in game seven. Carroll was three-for-three with two runs, two RBI and two stolen bases, becoming the 2nd-youngest player in MLB history with three hits and two steals in a playoff game (Ty Cobb 1908). The D-backs outfielder also joined Dustin Pedroia (2007) as the only rookies to have three hits in a game seven. Carroll has hit two homers and six RBI with a .396 on-base-percentage in the playoffs while starting all 12 postseason games.

2016 & 2017 Hillsboro pitcher Kevin Ginkel has been dominant in eight postseason outings, posting a 0.00 ERA in 9.0 innings pitched for the D-backs.

The Diamondbacks will square off with the American League Champion Texas Rangers in a best-of-seven series starting on Friday at Globe Life Park in Arlington. This is Arizona’s first World Series appearance since winning the 2001 Championship.
