Sweetest Promotion Ever Returns to Bowie
Fans can savor the event with a sweet $13 ticket package. The package includes a box seat ticket and a voucher for a slice of apple pie. Fans who would like more than one slice of pie or already have tickets for the game may order pie vouchers for $3 per slice. To take advantage of this offer, fans may order the ticket package and pie vouchers by going to www.baysoxshop.com or over the phone by calling the Baysox at (301) 464-4880 by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. Pie is not sold at any concession stand in the stadium.
Promotions Manager Chris Rogers is excited for this event. "Last year's Pi(e) Day and March's Pie Madness were huge successes and we wanted to continue building on that for this year," Rogers said. "By combining the delicious dessert with a celebration of the mathematical constant, we have created a day that everyone can enjoy. It's the only day of the year that pie is available at the stadium, so make sure you preorder your pie vouchers."
The Baysox invite fans to display their baking prowess through the team's second ever pie baking competition. To enter, fans must deliver an eight or ten inch sweet dessert pie in a disposable tin to the Baysox office at the stadium. Entries must be received during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Monday, April 16 or Tuesday, April 17. All entries should be covered and labeled with the contestants name, address, phone number and e-mail.
Pies will be judged by the Baysox front office staff. The winner receives four box seat tickets for Pi(e) Day, recognition on the field before the game and the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game. In order to replenish their pie inventory, the winner will also receive a free pie from Bowie's Best Pie Company.
Pi(e) Day is a celebration hosted in conjunction with the Baysox annual Pi Day contest. The Pi Day contest challenges local students to recite the most places of Pi, the mathematical constant that denotes the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. The student who was able to recite the most places of Pi during the school competition on March 14 will be recognized on the field before the game and win a prize pack from the Baysox and Widmann Financial Services.
