Astros Select Contract of RHP Ralph Garza Jr. from Skeeters

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) – The Houston Astros today selected the contract of right-hander Ralph Garza Jr. from the Sugar Land Skeeters. Garza began the Triple A season on the Skeeters roster and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/6.2 IP) with 11 strikeouts in three appearances. To make room

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) – The Houston Astros today selected the contract of right-hander Ralph Garza Jr. from the Sugar Land Skeeters.

Garza began the Triple A season on the Skeeters roster and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/6.2 IP) with 11 strikeouts in three appearances. To make room for Garza Jr. on the Astros 40-man roster, right-hander Josh James was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

To make room for Garza Jr. on the Astros active roster, they placed right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. on the 10-day injured list.

The Astros selected Garza Jr. in the 26th round of the 2015 MLB Draft from the University of Oklahoma. He’s yet to make an appearance in a Major League game.
