Acuna stays hot with two-homer game

Ronald Acuna got off to a somewhat quiet start in the Arizona Fall League, but his breakout season rolls on.
The top Braves prospect homered twice on Friday, going 3-for-4 as Peoria outslugged Salt River, 9-8, at Peoria Stadium. The outburst came three days after Acuna slugged his first AFL long ball, an opposite-field blast off top Pirates pitching prospectMitch Keller.

Acuna's first homer on Friday came in the first inning against Marlins right-hander James Needy, as he sent an 0-2 pitch over the center field wall to open the scoring. After getting thrown out at third trying to stretch a double in the fourth, the 19-year-old Venezuelan again took a 0-2 pitch deep to center, this time off Brewers right-hander Jorge Ortega.
Acuna wasn't the only member of the Javelinas who enjoyed a big game, as Padres No. 10 prospect Josh Naylor went 4-for-5 with an RBI double and a tie-breaking homer in the eighth. No. 24 Red Sox prospect Chad De La Guerra and Blue Jays second baseman Lourdes Gurriel each picked up two singles and scored a run.
Salt River was led by Brewers No. 2 prospect Corey Ray, who was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

Fifth-ranked Blue Jays prospect T.J. Zeuch gave up one run on four hits over five innings for Peoria, walking two and striking out three.

A's No. 8 prospect Logan Shore worked out of a third-inning jam that had a pair of Desert Dogs in scoring position with nobody out but had his scoreless outing spoiled by Bobby Bradley's solo homer in the fourth.
