Cats Win Again Behind King’s Home Debut, Parker’s Two-Run Blast

MANCHESTER, NH – After a three-run first inning, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (22-32, 56-65) never looked back in a Thursday night victory over the Hartford Yard Goats (19-35, 58-64) at Delta Dental Stadium, 7-3. Lefty Johnny King made his home debut in the Thursday win with four scoreless innings and six strikeouts, as the Fisher Cats led after three innings, 7-0.
Right-hander Aaron Munson (W, 5-3) tossed three innings of one-run ball in relief in notched the win. Relievers Jonathon Todd and Devereaux Harrison notched the final six outs of the game and struck out four batters.
Hartford starter Bryson Hammer was tagged for seven earned runs on five hits with four walks in 2-2/3 innings. Relievers Davis Palermo and Austin Smith combined for the final 5-1/3 innings and did not allow a run.

New Hampshire scored three runs in the bottom and took an early lead. Shortstop Eric Snow laced a leadoff double and scored one batter later on an error. With a runner on first, catcher Parker (17) swatted a two-run homer to make it 3-0.
The Fisher Cats blew the game open with a four-run fourth. With one out, first baseman Dub Gleed singled and Parker walked. Two batters later, right fielder Carter Cunningham cracked a two-run double. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for left fielder Mathieu Vallee who ripped a two-run single and made it 7-0.
Hartford scored a run in the sixth on an RBI single from shortstop Dyan Jorge. The Yard Goats’ second run of the night crossed in the eighth and catcher Jimmy Obertop added an additional run on and RBI single in the ninth. New Hamphsire’s Harrison secured the final out on a popout and the Fisher Cats took Thursday’s contest, 7-3.
New Hampshire and Hartford continue their six-game series on Friday, August 28, with first pitch slated for 6:03 PM. Right-hander Jackson Wentworth (6-8, 5.10 ERA) will start for the Fisher Cats and the Yard Goats will counter with righty Connor Staine (7-3, 4.22 ERA). Friday, August 28, is Latin Heritage Night presented by Latino Vibe 94.9 FM. It is the fourth Summer Reading Challenge game with postgame Atlas fireworks. The Manchester Coconut Tenders take the field on August 29. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Coconut Tenders bobblehead giveaway presented by Delta Dental. Saturday is Dartmouth Health’s Love Your Heart Night with postgame Atlas fireworks. The series concludes on Sunday, August 30, with Princesses at the Park. It is Back to School Day presented by NH Healthy Families and kids can run the bases postgame.
