Back-To-Back Homers Anchor Columbus to Third Straight Win

The party continues for the Columbus Clingstones (19-18, 48-53) as they defeat the Biloxi Shuckers (20-17, 55-47) on a two-RBI game from Kevin Kilpatrick Jr and another stellar start from Brett Sears at Synovus Park on Friday night.

Decisive Plays: Biloxi took a 1-0 second inning lead on an RBI double from Mike Boeve. Columbus punched back with a two spot in the bottom of the third inning, on back-to-back home runs from Austin Machado (1) and Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. (4) to make it 2-1, Clingstones. Sears (7.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO, QS, W) put a powerful Shuckers offense in a pressure cooker and kept them hitless after the fourth inning until and scoreless until the bottom of top of the eight. The next run was scored on a Kilpatrick Jr. infield RBI single that was misplayed by Jesus Made in the bottom of the fifth inning. With RHP Luis Vargas in the game for the eighth inning, Daniel Guilarte (1) to bring the score within one run, 3-2 Columbus. After a crazy first three games, the Clingstones weren't taking any chances and added on an insurance run on a Jordan Groshans single in the bottom of the inning to regrow the lead back to two runs, 4-2. RHP Tyler LaPorte came in for the ninth inning and struck out the side after allowing a leadoff single to secure the Clingstones third straight win on Friday night.

Key Contributors: Kilpatrick Jr. (2-for-2, HR, 2 RBI) and Machado (1-for-3, HR, RBI) both homered for the Clingstones, while Sears (7.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO, QS, W) collected his sixth quality start of the year. For Biloxi, Boeve (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) and Guilarte (1-for-2, HR, RBI) drove in runs with extra-base hits.

Notable: Columbus grows to 12-6 on Friday games this season and 16-7 in games when the starter goes 6.0 IP or more.
