A mistake cost Wisconsin (7-8) in the bottom of the third inning. Enrique Valdez doubled with one out. Pineda followed with a grounder to first baseman Jesús Chirinos. Chirinos fielded the ball cleanly and flipped to pitcher Alexander Cornielle in time. However, Cornielle couldn’t get his footing down covering first base and missed the bag to put runners at the corners with one out. Town’s flyball to left would have been the final out but went for a sacrifice fly to score Valdez.

Town stole second to get into scoring position and the move almost paid off for the Bandits. Wallace singled sharply to left where Alex Hall got to the ball and fired to the plate. The ball beat Town to the plate and catcher Darrien Miller got the tag for the final out of the inning.

Eric Brown Jr. manufactured the tying run for Wisconsin in the top of the fourth. Brown drew a walk, stole second, and took third on a throwing error. A wild pitch with two outs by Quad Cities starter Mason Barnett allowed Brown to score.

The River Bandits (7-7) took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pineda doubled to drive in Enrique Valdez for the go-ahead run with one out. History almost repeated itself one out later as Wallace singled to left and Hall fired to the plate. This time Pineda beat the throw to score the run.

Pineda and Town teamed up with back-to-back, two-out, RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth and Quad Cities was up 5-1.

Wisconsin loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning against reliever Wander Arias. The Rattlers scored a run on a ground out by Je’Von Ward but stranded two runners when the inning ended.

Juan Carlos Negret got that run back plus another for the River Bandits when he hit a long, two-run homer to left in the bottom of the seventh and Quad Cities had a 7-2 lead.

Pineda, Town, and Wallace combined to get two more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Pineda singled with one out for his fourth hit of the game. Town doubled to left to knock in Pineda. A wild pitch sent Town to third and Wallace got him home with a sacrifice fly.

Quad Cities won four of six games from the Rattlers to claim the series victory.

The Timber Rattlers are off on Monday. They return to action on Tuesday against the Beloit Sky Carp at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium to open a six-game series. Joseph Hernandez (1-1, 3.21) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers in game one. Game time is 6:40pm.
