The Pensacola Blue Wahoos (14-20) collected eight hits on Thursday night on their way to a 6-2 win over the Birmingham Barons (17-17). The win prevents the Barons from getting their first series sweep of the season.
·Moments That Mattered: The Barons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double by Eloy Jiménez . In the top of the fourth inning after surrendering the tying run, Jordan Guerrero  was able to get out of a runners on second and third jam by striking out three in a row, ending the inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning Ryan Brett hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot to left, tying the game at two.
·Turning Point: In the top of the seventh inning with the game now tied, the Barons saw their chances of getting the win diminish when relief pitcher Jake Johansen  (L, 0-1) allowed two runs, giving the Blue Wahoos a 4-2 lead. In the ninth inning, Brandon Brennan  gave up a two-run homer to Shed Long, which put the game out of reach.
·By the Numbers: Jimenez extended his current hitting streak to 14 games with a double in the third inning. However, he was not able to extend his multi-hit game streak, as he finished 1-for-4 to end the streak at nine games, tying a modern Southern League record.
·Facts and Figures: Guerrero earned a no-decision after striking out six, walking two, and allowing only two runs over 6.0 innings. This is Guerrero's second consecutive quality start and the Barons' third in a row.
·Up Next: The Barons take on the Blue Wahoos in the fifth and final game of the series on Friday night at Regions Field with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Ian Clarkin  (3-3, 6.54 ERA) will get the nod against righty Wyatt Strahan (3-2, 7.18 ERA). Curt Bloom will have the call on 960 WERC News Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
