BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - It was déjà vu all over again for Barons starter Thaddius Lowry. In his previous start against Montgomery, Lowry allowed five first inning runs and then shut down the Biscuits in a 6-5 win. Today, Carlos Franco blasted a three run home run off of the right hander in the first inning, but Lowry battled back to shut down the Braves the for the rest of the game in the 8-3 getaway day win.
Following the three run top of the first inning, the Barons immediately battled back in the bottom half. Birmingham put up four runs in the first inning highlighted by a Mason Robbins two run single. Nick Basto also reached on an error allowing Eddy Alvarez to score and Keon Barnum grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to score Cameron Seitzer to round out the four run inning.

Lowry would make the 4-3 lead stand up through his six inning outing. He would leave the game after surrendering seven hits and three earned runs while striking out seven.
Needing some insurance in the late innings, the Barons score three times in the seventh, capped by Cameron Seitzer's first home run of the year, a two run shot to right field. An eighth inning Eddy Alvarez sac fly would push the lead to 8-3 and that would be all the runs the Barons' bullpen would need to secure the victory.
Lowry moved to 2-1 on the season with the win, while Mike Soroka was charged with two hits and three earned runs in five innings and dropped to 2-3.
