The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (23-32) scored early and often to beat the Birmingham Barons (26-30) 9-2 on Monday night at Regions Field. The win evens up the five-game series at one game apiece.

  • Facts And Figures: The Barons Eloy Jiménez  entered the game with a 13-game hitting streak. However, he was unable to collect a hit in the game, which brought his hit streak to an end. His hit streak finished two games shy of his Southern League career-high of 15 games, which he accomplished earlier in the season.
  • Moments That Mattered: Birmingham evened the score in the second as Bryant Flete  hustled for an RBI fielder's choice ground out to tie the game 1-1 after two. However, the Barons would get no closer, as only Zack Collins' RBI double in the eighth inning changed the final score.
  • Turning Point: In the fourth inning after allowing only one run in the first three innings, Dane Dunning  began to unravel allowing two runs in the inning on three hits, which proved to set the tone for the rest of the game and be the difference for the Barons, leading to the loss.
  • By The Numbers: Dunning (L, 3-2) pitched 5.0 innings, striking out eight batters, allowing five hits, and giving up four runs. In his return from Charlotte, pitcher Colton Turner  gave up two unearned runs in two thirds of an inning. In his first game since being transferred from Kannapolis, Cameron Seitzer pitched 1.1 innings with one hit and one strikeout.
  • Up Next: The Barons and the Jumbo Shrimp will play game three of the series on Tuesday night at Regions Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Spencer Adams  (3-6, 5.50) will get the start for the Barons. Curt Bloom will have the call on 960 WERC News Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
