Harrisburg, PA (August 29, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, held on late to defeat the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, by a 9-8 final on Saturday night.
Chesapeake (31-24, 60-63) built an 8-1 lead by the top of the fifth inning, thanks in large part to four home runs. Victor Figueroa was the tone setter on Saturday. After a two-out walk in the top of the first inning to Aron Estrada, Figueroa demolished a two-run home run to right field. Figueroa’s fourth home run with the Baysox and his 26th of this minor league season went an estimated 400 feet and established a 2-0 lead.

The Baysox then added four runs in the fourth. Following a Figueroa double, Wehiwa Aloy arched a two-run shot out to left field an estimated 433 feet. Aloy’s sixth home run at the Double-A level doubled the lead to 4-0. Two batters later, Dom Keegan lashed a solo shot to left for his sixth Baysox homer. The final run of the frame came on a Frederick Bencosme RBI single, which followed a Griff O’Ferrall double.

Over the last month, Sosa is hitting .309 with an .885 OPS.

The final Baysox tally of the night came courtesy of a Fernando Peguero RBI double in the sixth inning. Eight Baysox starters registered a hit on Saturday and all nine reached base. Figueroa finished off his second three-hit game with the Baysox on a 3-for-4 night via an infield single in the seventh.
Right-hander Pat Reilly started Saturday for Chesapeake. He went the game’s opening four frames and struck out seven, surrendering just one run, via Sam Brown solo home run in the fourth, on three hits and two walks allowed.
The Senators got two runs back in the fifth inning on a Devin Fitz-Gerald double, before right-hander Ryan Long (W, 2-3), shut down the Harrisburg bats with two and one-thirds frames of scoreless relief work.
The Baysox entered the bottom of the ninth leading 9-3. After finishing the eighth, right-hander Brock Moore remained on the mound. He would allow two singles and walk a pair of hitters to force a run in, before Fitz-Gerald lashed a three-run double to make it a two-run contest without an out recorded in an inning. Moore would get the next two outs, due in part to a diving catch in foul ground from the third baseman O’Ferrall, before he was lifted for fellow righty Jeisson Cabrera. The first batter Cabrera faced was Brown, who singled through the right-side of the infield to score Fitz-Gerald and make it a one-run game. However, Cabrera (S, 5) generated a game-ending flyout against the very next hitter to strand the tying run on base.
The victory is the third in a row for the Baysox, who clinched their third road series win of 2026 on Saturday. Chesapeake is 18-10 on the road in the second half of the Eastern League season. The 18 road wins are tied for second-most in Minor League Baseball during that time.
The Baysox wrap up the six-game set in Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon. Left-hander Sebastian Gongora (9-6, 3.67 ERA) takes the ball for the Baysox against Senators’ southpaw Alex Clemmey (4-6, 4.69 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm from FNB Field.
The Baysox return home for one final homestand in 2026 on Tuesday, September 1, when they kick off a six-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 pm. Single-game tickets, ticket plans, and group offers for the 2026 season are currently on sale.
