Reading, PA (August 14, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. took down the Reading Fightin Phils, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2 on Friday night.
Chesapeake (24-19, 53-58) scored in four consecutive frames, including a trio of solo homers, to back a strong collective pitching performance. The game’s opening run scored in the top of the second. Frederick Bencosme walked and eventually crossed home on an Anderson De Los Santos groundout. Beginning in the fourth, the Baysox would clock solo homers in each of the next three innings. Thomas Sosa crushed the first of the three long balls to deep right-center for his thirteenth homer of the season. Sosa finished Friday with multiple hits after a sixth-inning single.

The next inning, Aron Estrada led off the frame with a demolished solo homer off Reading right-hander and top Phillies prospect Gage Wood. Estrada stood at home plate and admired his estimated 405-foot drive to deep right field for his team-leading nineteenth home run of the season. Friday was the third consecutive start in which Estrada went deep. His 19 home runs tie him for second-most among all Orioles minor leaguers.
Aron Estrada has homered in three consecutive starts and you're going to need to see this one to believe it.

After Wood (L, 0-2), following the fifth, Dom Keegan would tally the final Chesapeake long ball of the night with an opposite field shot to right-center. Keegan has homered in back-to-back games for the Baysox and now has four long balls with Chesapeake. Keegan finished Friday with a pair of hits and three balls struck over 100 mph off the bat, including a 114-mph lineout to center field.

The trio of homers were more than enough for a strong Baysox pitching staff on Friday. Right-hander Anthony Eyanson made his second start since joining the Orioles organization. The only damage against Eyanson came in the fifth, when consecutive run scoring hits with two outs from Pedro Leon and Raylin Heredia plating Reading’s only two runs. Eyanson worked out of a two on, no out jam in the first by generating a double play grounder. He ended the night with seven strikeouts, including a punchout to end the fifth that stranded the tying run at second base. Eyanson (W, 6-0) faced one hitter in the sixth, getting them to ground out back to the mound. It was the second time in his pro career recording an out in the sixth inning and he finished Friday with a professional career-high 89 pitches.
Three Baysox relievers combined to blank the Fightin Phils the rest of the way. Right-hander Jeisson Cabrera logged the final two outs of the sixth, before left-hander Micah Ashman retired all six batters he faced, including the first five via the strikeout. Ashman struck out the side in the seventh and finished just one pitch shy of an immaculate inning, while lowering his Double-A ERA on the season to 1.79 – fourth-best in Double-A and second-best in the Eastern League among pitchers with at least 40 innings.

Chesapeake’s final run of Friday scored in the seventh, when Bencosme walked, stole second, executed a third successful delayed steal of third this season, and advanced home after forcing a throwing error on his steal of third.
Right-hander Richard Guasch (S, 1) worked around an error to slam the door in the ninth.
Chesapeake continues the series in Reading on Saturday night. Right-hander JT Quinn (A+: 4-3, 3.75 ERA) makes his Double-A and Baysox debut against Fightin Phils right-hander Braydon Tucker (7-7, 3.41 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 pm from FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Baysox return home on Tuesday, August 18, when they open a six-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6:35 pm ET.
