Bowie, MD (August 9, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, fell to the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, in a 1-0 final Saturday.
In his first Double-A action since late April, Chesapeake (22-17, 51-56) right-handed starter Trace Bright took a perfect game into the sixth inning when a Harrisburg leadoff home run brought across the game's only score. The Senators won the series finale while being held to just two base runners all game - the home run and a eighth inning double.
The Baysox had runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but a fielder's choice out at home on a squeeze play and strikeout preserved the Senators' shutout.
Bright, who made his previous 15 professional appearances for Triple-A Norfolk, retired the first 15 batters he faced and earned seven of his eight strikeouts during the span. After giving up an Elijah Green solo homer to right center field, Bright (L, 0-2) retired the next three batters, facing one above the minimum in his six full innings of work.

Harrisburg right-handed starter Jack Cebert gave up a hit and two walks across four scoreless innings in a no-decision. Cebert was relieved by righty Robert Cranz (W, 3-0), who faced the minimum in the fifth inning.
Left-hander Micah Ashman, reinstated from the injured list Sunday, earned a strikeout while pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
The Baysox almost scored against Senators right-handed reliever Isaac Lyon in the eighth inning when Doug Hodo and Brandon Butterworth both singled within a three batter span. Hodo advanced to third on Butterworth's base knock and, when Butterworth stole second base, Chesapeake had two runners in scoring position with two outs. Lyon induced an inning ending strikeout, though, to escape the jam.
Harrisburg's slim, one-run lead carried into the bottom of the ninth thanks to the relief work of right-hander Richard Guasch. Guasch earned a strikeout and faced one above the minimum while pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth inning. Guasch hasn't conceded a run in eight of his 11 Double-A appearances this season.
Chesapeake created a few final scoring opportunities in the bottom of the ninth. Wehiwa Aloy reached third after a pinch-hit single, but was tagged out at the plate when Lyon shoveled home on a squeeze bunt attempt. Lyon (S, 1) then induced a game-ending strikeout to finish a four-inning save.
Next, the Baysox head to FirstEnergy Stadium on Tuesday, August 11 to start a six-game series at the Reading Fightin Phils, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Baysox are back home at Prince George's Stadium on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:35 pm when they host a weeklong series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
