BOX SCORE

Bowie, MD (August 21, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, fell late to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, by a 4-3 score Friday.

Chesapeake (26-22, 55-61) took a 2-1 lead into the top of the eighth inning before a Lisbel Diaz three-run homer put Richmond ahead, 4-2.

The Baysox cut the Flying Squirrels' lead to 4-3 on an eighth inning Victor Figueroa RBI single that scored Wehiwa Aloy but were then retired in order for the final five outs.

Richmond took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a Charlie Szykowny two-out, solo home run to right center field.

The homer was the only run Baysox right-handed starter Pat Reilly gave up in a no-decision. Reilly pitched five innings of one-run ball and gave up three hits and three walks to six strikeouts.

Reilly has earned six or more strikeouts in all five Double-A starts he's made since being activated off the 60-day injured list in late July.

Reilly induced two of the three double plays that the Baysox turned Friday. One to help him out of a jam in the third and another in the fifth to end his night.

The Baysox took a 2-1 lead in the fifth. After two walks and a single loaded the bases with no one out, Chesapeake took the lead on consecutive sacrifice flies from Frederick Bencosme and Aron Estrada.

Right-hander Richard Guasch relieved Reilly in the sixth and pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Guasch hasn't given up a run in any of his last four appearances and in 10 of his last 12 outings.

After a Richmond single and walk, Diaz hit his first Double-A home run to right center field against righty Ryan Long (L, 1-3) and earned his first three RBI.

Flying Squirrels righty Shane Rademacher (W, 2-2) then gave up the Figueroa RBI single, but earned the win while giving up the one run across and inning and one third.

Richmond's Tyler Vogel (S, 15) faced the minimum in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Baysox host the fifth of six games this week against the Flying Squirrels Saturday. Righty JT Quinn (0-0, 2.23 ERA) is set to start for Chesapeake as Richmond counters with left-hander Charlie McDaniel (3-2, 5.23 ERA). First pitch Saturday is set for 6:35 pm from Prince George’s Stadium.
