Black Bears Lose 5-4 to Spikes
STATE COLLEGE, PA - The West Virginia Black Bears lost the first game of a six-game road trip 5-4 to the State College Spikes. The Black Bears lost in walk-off fashion for the second night in a row.
The Black Bears struck first in the top of the second inning when Sandy Santos tripled and was brought home by on a sacrifice fly by Raul Hernandez . The Black Bears tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth when Jared Oliva scored off a wild pitch and Tristan Gray  drove in Bligh Madris  with a single to right field. Madris scored West Virginia's final run of the game with a solo home run in the top of the eighth.
State College slowly crept back into the game by scoring a run in the fifth and eighth innings. The Black Bears held a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. RHP Brandon Bingel was called from the bullpen in effort to save the game. Bingelgave up three runs in the inning, giving the Spikes the victory.
Black Bears Beat Spikes 6-4
STATE COLLEGE, PA - The West Virginia Black Bears defeated the State College Spikes 6-4 Wednesday night. West Virginia's bullpen pitched very well after two back-to-back collapses and 2017 All-Star Adam Oller  picked up the Win.
The Black Bears piled on four runs in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Raul Siri reached first on a fielding error by Spikes' shortstop Wood Myers, allowing two runs to score. Sandy Santos and Julio De La Cruz both knocked in RBI singles in West Virginia's big inning.
The Spikes started cutting into the lead by scoring a run in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Brett Pope drove inSantos with an RBI single in the sixth. West Virginia took a 6-4 lead in the top of the eighth when Pope drove in another run.
West Virginia Drops Series Finale 6-5
STATE COLLEGE, PA - The West Virginia Black Bears were defeated 6-5 in the rubber match of a three-game series between the State College Spikes.
The Black Bears put themselves in a hole early in the ball game by allowing six runs in the first inning. Raul Siri put the Black Bears on the scoreboard in the second inning with an RBI single to right field.
Bligh Madris lined a double to centerfield, scoring Chris Sharpe  in the top of the third. Later in the inning, Tristan Grayknocked in Madris to make the score 6-3, Spikes. Brett Pope drove in a run with a ground out in the top of the fourth andRaul Siri  drove in a run with a groundout of his own in the top of the eighth.
The Black Bears were unable to rally in the top of the ninth. Sergio Cubilete  dropped to (3-6) on the season in the loss. The Black Bears (35-27) will travel to Mahoning Valley to begin a three-game series against the Scrappers (34-26) tomorrow.
