AMARILLO - Seth Beer belted a lead-off home run in the ninth inning Saturday night as the Sod Poodles scored six times on eight singles in the final three innings to beat Corpus Christi, 8-7, before 6,175 fans at Hodgetown.

With a 3-2 series lead, Amarillo has walked off the Hooks twice over the last three games.

Corpus Christi was in command for much of the night as it built a 7-2 lead heading into the home seventh.

Joey Loperfido started the scoring with home run No. 20 on the year, a lead-off shot in the third for his third long ball in as many games. Zach Dezenzo was next and worked a walk. Following another free pass and a steal of third, Dezenzo scampered home on a sac fly by Chad Stevens.

The Hooks added four more in the fourth. Dezenzo and Will Wagner doubled to drive in runs, with Stevens and Luis Aviles Jr. recording singles. Loperfido drew a walk in the rally and came around to score on a ground out by Zach Daniels.

Daniels gave CC its seventh run with a mammoth home run to left field to begin the seventh. The Tennessee Vol has 11 home runs and 26 extra-base hits in 49 games.

Aaron Brown pitched well over five frames, limiting Amarillo to a pair of first-inning solo homers.

The Sod Poodles used six pitchers in a bullpen game Saturday night. Christian Montes De Oca, Jake Rice, and Kyle Backhus teamed to hold CC to two hits and one walk over the final five innings.
