(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (17-26) returned the favor by shutting out the Kane County Cougars (25-20), 2-0, on Thursday night at Community Field. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (17-26) returned the favor by shutting out the Kane County Cougars (25-20), 2-0, on Thursday night at Community Field. 

John Schuknecht led off the bottom of the second inning with a walk. Sam McDonnell then gave the Bees the lead by shooting a double down the left field line, scoring Schuknecht, putting the Bees on top, 1-0. 
Bees' starter Travis Herrin worked five shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out six before turning it over the the bullpen.
Roberto Baldoquin started the bottom of the seventh with a single but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double. Jeyson Sanchez then launched a solo home run to left, giving the Bees a 2-0 lead. The bullpen did the rest, combining to throw four scoreless innings, securing the Bees' 2-0 win.
Travis Herrin (2-3) earned the win while Emilio Vargas (1-2) was charged wtih the loss and Blake Smith (2) picked up the save. The Bees welcome in the Peoria Chiefs on Friday night at 6:30 p.m for Halloween in May. The Bees will have Joe Gatto on the mound against Mike O'Reilly for the Chiefs.
