Bees Bounce Back in Cedar Rapids

(Cedar Rapids, IA) - The Burlington Bees (24-36) used a three run fifth inning to beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels (36-27), 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Perfect Game Field. 

(Cedar Rapids, IA) - The Burlington Bees (24-36) used a three run fifth inning to beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels (36-27), 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Perfect Game Field. 

After the Bees left a runner stranded at third base in the top of the first inning, the Kernels jumped out in front in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, Mitchell Kranson slapped a double off the wall in left and then scored when Jaylin Davis doubled off the wall in right field, giving the Kernels a 1-0 lead. 
With one out and a runner at first base in the top of the fifth. Jordan Zimmerman smacked a double to right-center, scoring Jahmai Jones, tying the game at one. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, Julian Leon grounded a single into right field, socring Zimmerman and Keith Grieshaber, giving the Bees a 3-1 lead. 
Jrodan Zimmerman added insurance in the seventh inning, launching a solo home run to left, his third of the season, extending the Bees' lead to 4-1. 
Bees' starter Joe Gatto (3-5) earned the win while Evan Sanders (0-1) was charged with the loss and Sean Isaac (2). The Bees and Kernels will wrap up the four-game series on Monday at noon when Erik Manoah Jr. makes the start for the Bees against Tyler Wells for Cedar Rapids. 
NOTES: Keith Grieshaber extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a bloop single in the ninth inning. Mike Kaelin and Sean Isaac combined to strike out nine batters in four innings. Joe Gatto allowed three hits in the first inning but did not allow a hit in his final four innings.
