Burlington jumps out to an early lead, and doesn't look back in win vs the Clinton LumberKings
Clinton, IA. - The Bees took game one of Tuesdays double header, defeating the Clinton LumberKings 4-0. Isaac Mattson (2-2) picked up his second win of the season and Clay Chandler (1-1) suffered his first loss. Austin Krzeminski pitched the final two innings, earning him his second save.
More early scoring
The Bees gave up two runs in yesterday's first inning, but in today's game, they were the ones who put runs on the board early. Torii Hunter Jr. got a one out single past shortstop Johnny Adams , and next man up Julio Garcia hit his seventh double of the year, putting runners on second and third. After a Keinner Piña walked, loading the bases and a mound visit, Spencer Griffin grounded out to second, but he was the only man out, and Hunter was able to score giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. Next batter Kevin Williams Jr. Jr hit a line drive to center, scoring both Garcia and Pina, giving the Bees a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Burlington added one more run in the fourth inning, because of an error by first basemen Ryan Costello , which allowed Franklin Torres to score and give the Bees a 4-0 lead.
