Bees Falter in Game Two, 5-3

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (35-44) scored first but dropped game two of the series, 5-3 to the Quad Cities River Bandits (43-35) on Saturday night at Community Field.

Jahmai Jones started the bottom of the first inning by lining a triple into the right-center gap. The next batter, Keith Grieshaber, hit a groundball to third, scoring Jones, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. 
After four scoreless innings, Andrew Vinson ran into trouble in the fifth inning. With one out, Jonathan Arauz doubled to right. With two outs, Ronnie Dawson reached on an infield single, scoring Arauz from second, tying the game at one. After a Carmen Benedetti single, Chukie Robinson doubled in a pair, giving the River Bandits a 3-1 lead. 
After Quad Cities scored two more runs in the sixth inning, the Bees attempted to rally in the ninth. Jordan Zimmerman started the ninth inning with a triple to center. John Schuknecht made it a two-run game with a two-run home run to left, cutting the deficit to 5-3. That would be the last of the Bees' scoring however as the River Bandits took game two of the series, 5-3. River Bandits' starting pitcher Abdiel Saldana (4-1) earned the win while Bees' starter Andrew Vinson (5-7) was charged with the loss.

NOTES: Jordan Zimmerman singled in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games. John Schuknecht took over the team lead in home runs with six. With the loss, the Bees are now 1-7 against the Quad Cities River Bandits this season.
