(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (31-40) dropped their fourth game in a row with a 3-2 loss to the Peoria Chiefs (32-39) on Friday night at Community Field. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (31-40) dropped their fourth game in a row with a 3-2 loss to the Peoria Chiefs (32-39) on Friday night at Community Field. 

Peoria jumped out in front in the second inning. Brian O'Keefe worked a lead off walk to start the inning. With one out, Dylan Carlson singled to left, putting runners at the corners. Nick Plummer then struck out swinging but Dylan Carlson was caught in a run down, allowing O'Keefe to score, giving the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
Jack Kruger opened the bottom of the second inning with a single to center, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Brennan Morgan then followed with a single of his own, putting runners at first and second with no outs. After a strikeout, Jeyson Sanchez grounded into a fielder's choice but the ball was thrown away, allowing Kruger to score to tie the game at two.
Peoria went on to score the next two runs, retaking the lead in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Ryan McCarvel. The Chiefs added to their lead in the fourth inning. Nick Plummer reached on a walk to start the frame. Jose Martinez reached on an infield single, putting runners at first and second. JR Davis smacked a double to left, scoring McCarvel, pushing the lead to 3-1.
The Bees attempted to rally in the ninth inning. With one out, Sam McDonnell was hit by a pitch. After a pop out, Brennan Morgan was hit, putting runners at first and second. John Schuknecht cut the deficit to one with a single up the middle, scoring McDonnell. Jeyson Sanchez then loaded the bases with a single to right but the Bees couldn't tie it up, losing 3-2.
Peoria starter Juan Perez (1-0) earned the win while Bees' starter Joe Gatto was charged with the loss. Yeison Medina (5) earned the save. The Bees and the Chiefs continue the series on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. The Bees will have Nate Bertness on the mound against Mike O'Reilly for Peoria. NOTES: Joe Gatto walked five batters, a season high. Bees pitchers walked a season high nine batters. Bees' catcher Jack Kruger extended his hitting streak to 10 games while Jahmai Jones pushed his streak to seven games.
