Bees Lose Fifth Straight

(Davenport, IA) - The Burlington Bees (11-23) lost their fifth straight game on Tuesday afternoon, losing 8-1 to the Quad Cities River Bandits (18-18) at Modern Woodman Park. 

(Davenport, IA) - The Burlington Bees (11-23) lost their fifth straight game on Tuesday afternoon, losing 8-1 to the Quad Cities River Bandits (18-18) at Modern Woodman Park. 

Chuckie Robinson opened the scoring for the second straight game. With a runner on second and two outs, Robinson laced a triple to right-center, scoring Osvaldo Duarte, giving the River Bandits a 1-0 lead. The River Bandits were able to tack on to their lead in the second inning. After a leadoff walk, Yordan Alvarez doubld to left, scoring Ronnie Dawson, extending the lead to 2-0. After Bees' starter, Joe Gatto had to leave the game when a line drive hit off his foot, the River Bandits scored two more runs on a Duarte sacrifice fly and a Rodrigo Ayarza single, making the score 4-0.
Quad Cities upped their lead again in the fourth inning. After Alvarez walked to start the inning, Carmen Benedetti doubled to right-center, scoring Alvarez, extending the lead to 5-0.
Roberto Baldoquin opened the sixth inning with an infield single and then stole second base. With one out, Mario Sanjur ripped a double to left, scoring Baldoquin, cutting the deficit to 5-1. 
Quad Cities went on to add another run in the seventh on a Robinson single and two more in the eighth on an Alvarez home run and a Benedetti double as the Bees lost their fifth in a row, 8-1.Reliever Lucas Williams (1-1) earned the win while Bees' starter Joe Gatto (2-3) was charged with the loss. The Bees and River Bandits wrap up the series on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. when Erik Manoah Jr. makes the start for the Bees against Forrest Whitley for Quad Cities at Modern Woodman Park.
