Bees Rally for Third Straight Win

(Geneva, IL) - The Burlington Bees (55-70) scored five times in the sixth inning, rallying to beat the Kane County Cougars (67-56), 5-3, on Sunday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field. 

(Geneva, IL) - The Burlington Bees (55-70) scored five times in the sixth inning, rallying to beat the Kane County Cougars (67-56), 5-3, on Sunday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field. 

Kane County scored first for the first time in the series. The Cougars started the fourth inning with back-to-back singles from Yan Sanchez and Marcus Wilson. After Ramon Hernandez hit into a double play, Eudy Ramos lined a double to left, scoring Sanchez, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. 
The Cougars added to their lead in the fifth. Luis Silverio started the inning with a single to right. After an Adam Walton strikeout, Stephen Smith hit a ground rule double, putting runners at second and third. After a pop out, Yan Sanchez reached on a single and an error, scoring two runs, extending the lead to 3-0. 
Trailing 3-0 in the sixth, the Bees' offense came to life. Leonardo Rivas started the inning with a bloop double to left. Jonah Todd then lined a single to right, placing runners at the corners. Julian Leon continued his big series by dropping a single into left, scoring Rivas, cutting the deficit to 3-1. After Sam McDonnell drew a two-out walk, Brandon Sandoval lined a single to left, scoring a pair of runs, tying the game at three. John Schuknecht gave the Bees the lead, lining a single to right, scoring McDonnell. Artemis Kadkhodaian then capped off the inning with a RBI single to right, making the score 5-3 in favor of the Bees. 
The Bees went on to win their third game in a row, beating the Kane County Cougars, 3-0. Bees' starter Luis Madero (1-2) allowed three runs in five innings to earn the win while Kyle Halbohn (1) worked two scoreless innings to earn the save. Kane County starter, Riley Smith (2-1) was charged with the loss.
