Bees Rally to Snap Losing Streak

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (57-73) scored four runs in the final two innings to beat the Beloit Snappers (60-69), 6-5, on Friday night at Community Field. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (57-73) scored four runs in the final two innings to beat the Beloit Snappers (60-69), 6-5, on Friday night at Community Field. 

The Bees got things going in the first inning. Leonardo Rivas started the inning by walking on four pitches and then moving to second on a wild pitch. Jonah Todd then gave the Bees a 1-0 lead with a single to right, scoring Rivas. After Julian Leon worked a walk, Richie Fecteau made it a 2-0 lead with a single to right, scoring Todd. 
Beloit answered in a hurry, taking the lead in the top of the second inning. Kyle Nowlin opened the inning with a double and then moved to third on an Eric Marinez single. J.C. Rodriguez then put Beloit on the board with a single to left. Later in the inning, Mike Martin singled in a pair, giving Beloit a 3-2 lead.
The Snappers added another run in the third on an Eric Marinez sacrifice fly and then scored their fifth run of the game in the fourth inning when Collin Theroux homered to left, pushing the lead to 5-2. 
Beloit starter Kyle Twomey retired 17 batters in a row before the Bees went to work against the Snappers' bullpen in the seventh inning. Richie Fecteau greeted Beloit reliever Mitchell Jordan with a single to right and moved to third on a Brandon Sandoval single. After a wild pitch scored Fecteau, Brennan Morgan doubled in Sandoval, cutting the deficit to 5-4. 
The Bees went on to take the lead back in the eighth. Leonardo Rivas started the inning with a bunt single and then scored when Julian Leon doubled to left, tying the game at five. The Bees took the lead thanks to a Brandon Sandoval single to center, scoring Leon, making the score 6-5. Bees' reliever Carlos Salazar (2-0) earned the win while Mitchell Jordan (2-9) was charged with the loss for Beloit. Tyler Stevens kept the Bees in the game by throwing three scoreless out of the bullpen for the Bees. 
The Bees and Snappers will continue the series on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. as Jose Suarez makes the start for the Bees against Xavier Altamirano for the Snappers. Saturday is US Bank Friends & Family Saturday as all fans will be able to run the bases following the game. Stick around after the game for a fireworks show.
