(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (18-28) split a doubleheader with the Peoria Chiefs (19-29) on Saturday night at Community Field.

GAME ONE
Bees' starter Erik Manoah Jr. struck out the first two batters he faced before allowing a solo home run to left off the bat of Andrew Young, giving the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. The Bees battled back to tie the game in the third inning. Jahmai Jones started the inning with a single and then moved to second when Jack Kruger walked. Brennon Lund continued his hot hitting, sending a single into left, scoring Jones, tying the game at two. 
Peoria went on to score the next four runs. With one out in the fifth inning, Juan Yepez singled and then moved to second on a groundout. Dylan Carlson put the Chiefs back in front by grounding a single into center, scoring Yepez, making the score 2-1. Peoria added three insurance runs in the seventh on a three-run home run from Juan Yepez, as the Chiefs went on to win game one, 5-1. Jordan Hicks (6-1) earned the win while Erik Manoah (1-3) was charged with the loss. 
GAME TWO
Just like in game one, Peoria took the lead first in game two. With one out, Dylan Carlson walked and stole second base, after Nick Plummer was hit by a pitch, Shane Billings singled to center, loading the bases. The Chiefs then took the lead when two runs scored on a fielder's choice and a throwing error, giving Peoria a 2-0 lead.
The Bees grabbed a run in the third inning. Juan Moreno kicked off the inning with a double to left and then scored when Mario Sanjur doubled to right, cutting the deficit to 2-1. 
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Brennon Lund and John Schuknecht collected back-to-back singles. Sam McDonnell hit a fly ball to left that was misplayed, allowing both runners to score on a two-base error, giving the Bees the 3-2 lead. 
Ronnie Glenn retired all six batters he faced, earning the win while Ian Oxnevad (0-5) was charged with the loss. The Bees and Chiefs continue the series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Nate Bertness will make the start for the Bees against Steven Farinaro for Peoria.
