Bees Take Third Straight, 7-4

(Appleton, WI) The Burlington Bees (39-48) used a three-run eighth inning to win their third game in a row, 7-4 over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (33-53) on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field.

After going ahead in the count 2-0 to start the game, Jahmai Jones opened the scoring by blasting a solo home run to left, his sixth of the season, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. 
Carlos Belonis got the Wisconsin offense started, smashing a double off the wall in center. After a strikeout, Mario Feliciano singled into left, scoring Belonis, tying the game at one.
The Bees used another home run to get the lead back. Artemis Kadkhodaian crushed his first professional home run, a solo shot to left, giving the Bees a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning. Julian Leon made it three home runs for the Bees, sending a solo homer to center, extending the Bees' lead to 3-1.
With one out in the top of the seventh inning, Derek Jenkins reached on an infield single and stole second base. Jordan Zimmerman then knocked a single into left, scoring Jenkins, upping the Bees' lead to 4-1. 
Wisconsin opened the bottom of the seventh inning with four straight hits. After a lead off double from Trever Morrsion, Joangtel Segovia drove in Morrison with a single, cutting the Bees' lead to 4-2. Weston Wilson made it a one-run game with a RBI double and then Carlos Belonis scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at four. 
The Bees bounced right back and answered with a three-run inning of their own. Brennan Morgan, John Schuknecht and Richard Fecteau opened the top of the eighth with three straight singles, loading the bases. Artemis Kadkhodaian gave the Bees the lead back with a sacrific fly, scoring Morgan. After Derek Jenkins walked to load the bases, Jahmai Jones singled to center, scoring Schuknecht. The inning was capped off on a Jordan Zimmerman RBI single, extending the Bees' lead to 7-4. 
Kayle Halbohn (1-0) bounced back and worked a scoreless eighth inning, earning the win while Blake Smith (7) earned the save, securing the Bees' 7-4 win. Wisconsin reliever Andrew Vernon (0-3) was charged with the loss. The Bees and Timber Rattlers will finish the series on Monday at 12:05 p.m. as Erik Manoah Jr. makes the start for the Bees against Nattino Diplan for the Timber Rattlers at Neuroscience Group Field. 
NOTES: The Bees scored a first inning run for the sixth straight game. Jordan Zimmerman extended his hitting streak to 15 games and Derek Jenkins extended his streak to six games. Kadkhodaian has batted in four runs in his first two games with the Bees.
