Kruger and Zimmerman combine to drive in four

(Peoria, IL) - The Burlington Bees (31-36) won their eighth game in a row with a 7-2 victory over the Peoria Chiefs (28-39) on Friday night at Dozer Park in Peoria.

Bees' starting pitcher Joe Gatto was outstanding on Friday night, tossing five shutout innings. The Bees offense backed him up early, getting on the board in the second inning. Brennan Morgan drew a walk and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Roberto Baldoquin. John Schuknecht gave the Bees the lead with a single up the middle, scoring Morgan, putting the Bees in front, 1-0.
Jack Kruger opened the third inning with a single and moved to second when Keith Grieshaber was hit by a pitch. Sam McDonnell then singled to right, loading the bases. Jordan Zimmerman hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Kruger, extending the Bees' lead to 2-0. Brennan Morgan made it 3-0 with a fielder's choice.
After adding a run on a Zimmerman single in the fifth. The Bees went on to score three runs in the sixth inning. John Schuknecht doubled and later scored on a Jahmai Jones infield single. Jack Kruger smacked a two-run homer, putting the Bees in front, 7-0.
Peoria scored a run in the eighth and the ninth but the Bees hung on for their eighth straight win, 7-2 over the Peoria Chiefs. Joe Gatto (4-5) earned the win while Austin Sexton (2-1) was charged with the loss.
