Bees Win Seventh Straight

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (30-36) completed a five game sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (26-39) with a 9-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday night. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (30-36) completed a five game sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (26-39) with a 9-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday night. 

Wisconsin opened the scoring for a second straight game. Demi Orimoloye started the game by ripping a triple to left and then came home to score on a Joantgel Segovia groundout, giving the Timber Rattlers a 1-0 lead. The next batter, Monte Harrison, belted a solo home run to left, pushing the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers lead to 2-0.
With one out in the third inning, Derek Jenkins picked up his second hit of the game, reaching on an infield single. Keith Greishaber then tied the game, blasting a two-run home run to left, making the scroe 2-2. Sam McDonnell then walked and stole second base, scoring on a Roberto Baldoquin double, giving the Bees a 3-2 lead. With two runners on and two outs, John Schuknecht launched a three-run home run to left, extending the Bees' lead to 6-3.
After Wisconsin scored a run in the fourth and the fifth, the Bees opened their lead back up in the fifth inning. With a runner at second and one out, John Schuknecht then doubled to right field, scoring Baldoquin, upping the lead to 7-4. Juan Moreno added the Bees' eighth with a double. Mario Sanjur capped off the inning with a single to right. scoring Moreno, making the score 9-4. 
Bees' reliever Greg Belton (1-1) earned the win while David Burkhalter (0-4) was charged with the loss. The Bees will hit the road to start a three-game series in Peoria against the Peoria Chiefs, starting on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Joe Gatto makes the start for the Bees against Austin Sexton for the Chiefs. 
NOTES: The Bees have now won a season high seven games in a row. McDonnell's hitting streak was snapped at 13 games. The Bees have also won six home games in a row.
