Beloit, WI- The Beloit Sky Carp turned the tables against the Peoria Chiefs Saturday. After being held scoreless for 25 consecutive innings, Beloit pieced together 17 hits and scored early and often to knock off the Chiefs 11-7 at ABC Supply Stadium. For the Chiefs, it was just their second loss in their last 13 games.

Joseph King was given a spot start after probable starter Trent Baker was scratched Saturday. King, who had not allowed a run over his last nine innings, could not extend his streak. The Sky Carp pieced together three straight singles to open the game and stake a 1-0 lead. After a double play, the Sky Carp tacked on a pair of two-out hits to make it 3-0.

Peoria scratched a run in the top of the second on a Jeremy Rivas sac fly but Beloit scored three more times in the home half of the inning. With two men aboard, Javier Sanoja launched a three-run homer to left, giving Beloit a 6-1 lead.

The Chiefs did not fold, however. Beloit starter Karson Milbrandt loaded the bases with no one out in the third to open the door for a big inning. With the sacks full, Jimmy Crooks doubled to the wall in right center field to clear the bases and cut the deficit to 6-4. Two batters later, Rivas singled in Crooks to make it 6-5.

After chasing Milbrandt from the game, Beloit turned to reliever Kyle Crigger to get out of the inning. Crigger entered to face Thomas Francisco with two on and one out. Francisco lined a ball into shallow center where Sanoja made a sliding grab and doubled off Osvaldo Tovalin at second to end the inning.

Pitcher Dionys Rodriguez entered the fray for Peoria in the bottom of the third. After a scoreless frame, Beloit plated three more in the home fourth. After a Sanoja single and a Joe Mack double, Yiddi Cappe singled to make it 7-5. Zach Zubia followed with a sac fly to score Mack and extend the lead to 8-5. A two-out single from Torin Montgomery later pushed the lead to 9-5.

Beloit tacked on two more runs in the fifth against Nathanael Heredia to take their biggest lead of the contest, 11-5.

Peoria had one more uprising in the top of the sixth, thanks a large part to right fielder Jake Thompson. With Francisco Hernandez stationed at first, Nathan Church lifted a flyball into right. Thompson was unable to locate the ball in the twilight sky, allowing the ball to fall harmlessly to the turf. The next batter, Alex Iadisernia, skied to deep right. Thompson lost the ball a second time, allowing Iadisernia to motor to third with a two-run triple.

The Chiefs did not allow a run beyond the fifth inning but were unable to get any closer than the final margin. Crooks recorded three hits for Peoria. Sanoja recorded a career-high five hits for Beloit.

The series wraps up Sunday at 1:05 ABC Supply Stadium.
