For the second straight night, the Jupiter Hammerheads outlast the St. Lucie Mets at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. On Saturday night, the Hammerheads pushed their record to 46-41 with a 4-1 win.

The Hammerheads had some big-league help to get things started. Miami Marlins reliever Anthony Bender made his second rehab appearance for the Hammerheads. The right-hander worked 1.1 innings without giving up a hit before being replaced. The California native allowed one walk and struck out one batter on the night.

Following Bender, the Hammerheads turned to Gabe Bierman. The former Indiana Hoosier pitched 5.2 innings and collected seven strikeouts on the evening. The righty allowed only four hits and one run after giving up a solo homer.

Joey Steele closed out the game for the Hammerheads. The 2019 draftee pitched two perfect innings and earned his first save of the season. Steele struck out three batters on the night too.

Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard until the third inning when Jupiter broke through. A single from Javier Sanoja drove in Cameron Barstad and put the Hammerheads up 1-0.

In the fourth, the Mets’ William Lugo connected for a solo home run. The big blast would be the only run of the night for the St. Lucie club.

In the fifth, Marlins' No. 12 overall prospect Yiddi Cappe picked up his first full-season RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field. Cappe started at shortstop and batted leadoff for the second straight game. The young Cuban finished 2-3 and is batting .500 since his promotion from the FCL.

Jupiter would add some insurance and score a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Carlos Santiago connected for an RBI single and Federico Polanco scored on a wild pitch.

The Hammerheads and Mets will play again on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 PM at RDCS.
